In plastic extrusion, profiles are cut to a specific length. To achieve high precision incremental encoder is used to measure the profile distance, then a piston clamps the profile, which is then cut by a pneumatic knife.
This embedded device controls the whole process by providing user control on touchscreen, counting encoder ticks and driving three separate output relays. The user can configure desired length and delay and duration of each relay activation. Configured parameters are retained after power off thanks to the EEPROM device.
It also contains a touchscreen display with user interface developed using STM's TouchGFX framework.
